GERMAN CONSUL
SHIFT FROM NEW YORK | SEQUEL TO INVESTIGATION (Received August 20, 12.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 19. The Assistant Secretary of State, Mr. Sumner Welles, announced that Germany was transferring Dr. Freidrich Reed, one of its Consuls at New York, because of an investigation of Dr. Reed's activities by the State Department.
Dr. Reed recently came' to the United States from Brazil, where his activities were objectionable to the-autho-rities. It is understood that he is to become Consul-General at Kobe.
