POOR PROSPECTS
VICTORIAN WHEAT CROP
MELBOURNE, August 4.
The long spell of dry weather in the Victorian wheat areas has had a devastating effect on the crops. The Premier (Mr. Dunstan), on his return from a tour of inspection, said only a miracle can give Victoria a reasonable crop. "The prospects are very blue," said Mr. Dunstan. "I have not seen a really promising crop. They are just coming up in patches and those patches look miserable. The big area prepared for late cropping is unlikely to be planted at a 11.3 The dry weather was also likely to affect the lamb export and wool clip. Early lambs were stunted and might have to be carried as stores, Mr. Dunstan added.
