A NAVAL TRIBUTE

COURAGE IN MALTA

(British Official Wireless.)

RUGBY, August 1

Paying a tribute to Malta in a broadcast speech tonight, Admiral E. B. C. Dicken said:

"The Navy have always had a very warm spot in their hearts for Malta It is a place where most of us have spent a good deal of time during our service. Well, it's having a bad time now, but its trials have brought a magnificent response from the Maltese inhabitants. Their bravery and confidence are splendid, and the Maltese air-gunners have already had successes. "Though Malta is a small and densely populated island, it is fortunate that underground shelters exist. They have received some hundred air raids up to the present, but they emerge unshaken from their caves and their morale remains high. Malta sets us a very good example of courage."
