ORDER OF ODDFELLOWS

SECRETARY'S FUNERAL

All branches of the Manchester Unity of the Independent Order of : Oddfellows throughout New Zealand were represented at the funeral today of Mr. A. G. Shrimpton, Grand Secretary of the Order for the Dominion, whose death occurred at Wellington on Thursday. The large attendance, besides officials and members of the Order, included private citizens and representatives of the Friendly Societies' Department and other friendly societies.

The chief mourners were Mr. Shrimp ton's son and daughter, Mr. E. Shrimpton and Miss M. Shrimpton, a nephew, Mr. G. Shrimpton, and Miss T. E< Bentley, of the Grand Secretary's office. ■- : ■ .'..'. ..-

! The Rev. F. M. Kempthome conducted services at St. Mary's , Anglican Church, Karori, and in the Crematorium, Karori Cemetery. The service in the Crematorium was followed by the Manchester Unity Service, which was taken by the Grand Master of the Order for New Zealand, .Brother N. B. Bellringer, of New Plymouth. The casket was carried by Mr. Bellringer, Mr. N. J. McKay (Deputy-Grand Master, .Hawke's Bay), Mr. H. S. M. Quigley (past Grand Master, DannevirkeV Mr. G*. Read (Gr,and Treasurer, Wellington), Mr. F. Smith (a director of. the Order, Auckland)., and Mr. F. H. Cook (District Secretary, 'Nelson),.:

Other friendly societies'represented included the Druids, Ancient Order Of Foresters, the 1.W.0.F.; -Hibernians,, New Zealand Friendly Societies' Fidelity Society, and there were also representatives present from. Lodge Karori (Masonic Order).. • : •.

Among others present were the Hon. W. L. Martin, Minister in Charge of Friendly Societies; Mr. R. .Sinel, head of the Friendly Societies' Department; Messrs. E. A. Kellow (Manchester Unity auditor), J. E. Allan ; (Auckland, a director of the Order), C. A. Ryder (Auckland District Grand. Master), G. Wilson (Wanganui, a director), T. J. Archbold . (North' Canterbury, past Grand Master), W. B. Brown (Wellington, a director), A. Gow (Canterbury, a director), E. W. Guise (Wellington district secretary), C G. Turner (Wellington solicitor to the Order), A. C. Blair, and W. I. Clark (Grand Trustees), G. C. Laws (Hawke's Bay district secretary), H. Bull (Napier, a past director) A. J. B. Foote (Wellington district Grand Master), and Miss Pat. McLeod (Auckland district office). Many floral tributes were received.
