SALVATION ARMY

A PETONE ENTERTAINMENT

The Petone Salvation Army Silver Band held its anniversary services during the weekend under the direction of Bandmaster H. Dutton.

Special Sunday services were conducted by Major and' Mrs. Mahaffie, of Masterton, at which there were large attendances and the playing of the band was much -appreciated. '■.

The annual band concert was held on Monday evening, when the hall was well filled.

I The programme included marches and selections by the band, elocutionary items by Master M. Coffey, songs by Miss Jean Rimmer and Mr. Ken. McCauley,' pianoforte-accordion solos by Mr. M. Wishnowsky, pianoforte solos by Mrs. J. Douglas, a cornet solo by Mr. L. Baughan, and a cornet-duet by Bandmaster Dutton and M. S. Baughan. During the evening the bondmaster expressed appreciation and thanks to all who had contributed io the programme and to those who.had assisted the band during the year.

The gathering concluded with supper provided by the ladies.
