CLEARING OF SITE

The Postmaster-General (the Hon. P. C. Webb) has advised Mr. R. McKeen, M.P., that it has. been found necessary to defer the erection of the new post office building for Wellington South on a site at the corner of Riddiford Street and Hall Street, opposite the Newtown School.

To make provision for the post office a shop and dwelling in Riddiford Street and a two-storey building .with a shop in Hall Street were purchased. These buildings are in "a dilapidated condition, and, although it is not proposed to proceed with the new post office at the present time, the Postmaster-General's letter to Mr. McKeen states that arrangement are being made to have these buildings removed.
