CONVERTED A CAR

A 19-year-old gunner, Gerald Raymond Austin, appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, yesterday, and pleaded guilty to converting a car valued at £200. Senior Detective P. Doyle said Austin went to Christchurch, and later to Timaru, where he and a companion converted the car. No damage had been done to the vehicle. Austin asked to have his name suppressed. The Magistrate: You are not gouig to get your name suppressed. You are lucky you are not going to gaol. The defendant was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months. "If you touch another car you know where you will go," said the Magistrate.
