NEARLY 20,000
Enlistments in the Central Military District up to the closing down of the voluntary system on July 22 totalled 19,548. Of those so far medically examined 11,899 have been passed fit, 2298 have been declared permanently unfit, and 7764 have been dispatched to: camp. There are at present 1186 names on the temporarily unfit list. Details for the four areas in the district are as follows (No. 5 Area, Wellington and Hutt Valley; No. 6, Wanga-nui-Palmerston North; No. 7, Hawke's Bay-Gisborne-Wairarapa; No. 8, Taranaki) :— Enlisted 5640 3479 4900 2529 Fit 53G4 1607 3155 1773 Tempt, unfit .. 572 99 314 201 Perm, unfit ... 1134 150 663. 351 Sent to camp . 3560 1195 1931 1078
