GAOL FOR ASSAULT
A sentence of fourteen days' imprisonment was imposed upon Aubrey Vivian Hansen, aged 50, who appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today, and pleaded guilty to assaulting Mrs. Eliza Cooze.
Sub-Inspector L. R. Capp said that Hansen was a lodger at Mrs. Cooze's house, and returned home under the influence of liquor. It was alleged that when two women friends of Mrs. Cooze came to the house, Hansen pushed one of them, and.that later he had seized Mrs. Cooze by the throat and attacked her violently.
Hansen said that he had been in the house for three years, and had on no occasion attacked Mrs. Cooze. He alleged that the incident was not so serious as described by the police. "You must keep your hands off women," said the Magistrate, when imposing sentence.
