FORCE IN EGYPT
THE FIRST LIST
THREE MEN WOUNDED BY BOMBS
The first official casualties to members of the First Echelon of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force in Egypt were announced today. They concern three men who have been wounded as the result of air bombing.
The casualties are, as follows: —
Driver Clarence Leonard Andrews, ■wounded as result of air bombs. His icether is Mrs. B. G. Andrews, 154 Vincent Street, Auckland.
Driver John Ariel Graham, wounded as result of air bombs. His mother is Mrs. M. M. Graham, Charles Street, West Shore, Napier.
Corporal O. Russell, wounded as result of air bombs. His father is Mr. Q. Russell, P. 0., Kimbolton.
According to advice received by his father, Corporal Russell suffered flesh wounds in the arm and leg when an aerial bomb exploded among a transport supply column. Corporal Russell, -who is the youngest of the family, was 23 on, the day he landed in Egypt. He was a member of the Manawatu Mounted Rifles for three years. He later spent some time in Wellington, where he enlisted. He has a brother stationed at a coastal defence post in Wellington and another serving with the British Army in England.
The first New Zealand casualty in the Great War occurred in Egypt, Private Ham, of Nelson, being fatally wounded in the neck during a Turkish attack on the Suez Canal.
