CALL TO BRITAIN
AUCKLAND AIR FORCE DOCTOR
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Juty 18. It is announced that the well-known physician, Dr. J. Garfield Stewart, who holds the rank of major in the New Zealand Medical Corps, has been appointed to the Royal Air Force Medical Service with the rank of Squadron Leader. The appointment is for the duration of the war, and Dr. Stewart will leave shortly for England to report to the Air Ministry.. Dr. Stewart left New Zealand with the Main Body of the Expeditionary Force in 1914 and served on Gallipoli with the New Zealand Army Service Corps. He was awarded the Military Cross, and rose to the rank of captain. Later he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps, and saw Western Front service both as an observer and pilot. In recent years Dr. Stewart has been one of the officers of. the New Zealand Medical Corps attached to the Royal New Zealand Air Force and is president of the central medical board of the Air Force.
