NO OVERSEAS FORCE
PARTY'S PLATFORM
MATERIAL AID TO BRITAIN
(Received July 18, 8 a.m.)
NEW YORK, July 17
The "Post" declares that the Democratic platform as at present drafted pledges the United States not to send the "army, navy, or air force to lands across the sea."
The newspaper adds: "In self-defence and good conscience the world's greatest democracy approves the giving of all material aid (to Britain) at its command, consistent with the law and the interests of national defence."
The "Post" says that the platform is chiefly a political document and is intended to make the most of the country's desire for peace, and to refute charges that the Democrats are a war party*
