FLIGHT LIEUTENANT J.R. MALING, A.F.C.
Flight Lieutenant J. R. Maling, A.F.C, R.A.F., who is 27 years of age, was born in Timaru. He was educated at Christ's- College, Christchurch, and is well known in sporting circles; He was a member of the Canterbury Aero Club, where he learnt to fly, gaining his "A" licence "in 1933. He went overseas under the short-service commission scheme and was with the' Royal Air Force upon the outbreak of the present war.
