STAFF SERGEANT-MAJOR GLANVILLE, M.B.E.
Staff Sergeant-Major (W. 0.1) W. L. Glanville,'M.B.E., ..N.Z. Permanent Staff, enlisted in the No, 1 Company, N.Z. Engineers, in 1902. He was promoted sergeant, in. 1909. . Two years later he received a staff appointment to the New Zealand Permanent Staff as sergeant-instructor. He went overseas in 1914 as company ' sergeantmajor with the Canterbury Regiment, and served with that unit in Egypt and Gallipoli, where he attained the rank of regimental sergeant-major. He was invalided from Gallipdli and returned to New Zealand in 1916. He was camp sergeant-major at Awapurii in 1917. Since then he has. held the appointments of musketry instructor, Army School, Trentham, sub-area ser-geant-major, area sergeant-major, regimental sergeant-maj pi*. Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry. He holds three service medals for the. war of 1914-18. the New Zealand Service, the New Zealand Long and Efficient Service (16 years), the New .Zealand Long Service and Good Conduct (18 years), and the Meritorious Service Medals.
