WAR EFFORT

JOINT CONTROL

DISCUSSION BY LEADERS

MAY HAVE POSITIVE RESULT

Discussions which have taken place in party caucuses and between party leaders suggest that the movement towards the closer association of the Government and the Opposition in the administration of the war effort is likely to have some positive outcome. The whole question was discussed by members of the Opposition at a caucus yesterday, and it was one of the main subjects for consideration at the Labour Party's meeting today. This was preceded by an interview between the Prime Minister (the Rt. [Hon. P. Fraser) and the Leader of the | Opposition (the Hon. A. Hamilton). It is understood that a further conference of the leaders will take place.
