SUNK BY BOMBS
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)
(Received July 8 } 2 p.m.) CAIRO, July 7. A British flying-boat pilot sank two Italian submarines in two days. On the first occasion bombs burst abaft the conning tower of the submarine. The submarine's nose rose to the surface and the ship then slid vertically downwards. When ihe second submarine was destroyed an explosion blew several members of the crew into the water. The flying-boat rescued four officers. While returning to his base the pilot sighted another submarine but his bombs were exhausted. He swooped down and machine-gunned the conning tower and bridge till the submarine crash-dived. At Malta British fighters brought down an enemy plane at sea.
