PETONE V. NEWTOWN

Petone beat Newtown by 17 points to 3 at Newtown Park. The packs were evenly balanced, but Petone Avon most of the scrums. Newtown's backs staged several good passing movements, but had difficulty in penetrating Petone"s defence. Brown, who fended off several players, scored Newtown's only try.
