WELLINGTON V. JOHNSONVILLE
Against Wellington at Athletic Park Johnsonville made the most of the advantage of the southerly wind in the first spell and some great work by J. Burns was mainly responsible for their 9-3 lead at half-time. A thrilling dribbling rush by Cave and Stevens accounted for Wellington's points. Wellington were on top for practically the whole of the second spell and Cave and Stevens repeatedly led the forwards in splendid rushes. Also of considerable value to Wellington were the spirited efforts of Veitch and Robbie, the flveeighths. Robbie, in particular, was outstanding despite the treacherous conditions. Cave, lllingworth, Balfour, and ■> Stevens scored tries for Wellington, three of which were converted by Taylor: Johnsonvllle's score was made up of tries by J. Burns, Parsloe, and M. Kenny. Mr. H. B. Simmons was the referee.
