GOLDSBROUGH MORT'S TURNOVER
Reviewing the operations of Goldsbrough Mort and Co., Ltd., Melbourne, for the year ended March 31, the chairman, Mr. K. M. Niall, said at the annual meeting that substantially better results had been experienced in the period chiefly' because of the good season enjoyed in most of the pastoral areas of the various States and the resultant increased turnover in the company's agency business. Mr. Niall said ,that it had been estimated that up .to June 30, including skin wools, approximately 3,600,000 bales of wool would have been appraised at an average* price of about 12£ d a lb. Of this alktime record quantity of wool produced* in Australia, 2,565,000 bales had either been shipped or allocated for shipment, and 300,000 bales had been 'taken'iby local consumers. The value dtf the dip was expected to be approximately £60,000,000. The price of wool as\applied to the company's own properties "had been sufficient to cover working costs and leave a moderate . mlargin of profit. Altogether, net earnings represenetd more man 4f per cent.on shareholders' funds.
