It was only last week'that the Derby and Oaks were decided at Newmarket, hut now racing has been abandoned in England till better days. This photograph shows the field in the mile-and-a-half C hip penham Stakes last month pounding down the Newmarket Suffolk Stakes course, which was also the Derby course. The leader at this stage, Hunter's Moon IV, was beaten into fourth place.
