SHIPPING RESUMES
FERRIES SAIL
DAYLIGHT SERVICES
The inter-island steamers sailed this morning for the first time since the sinking of the Niagara, the Rangatira leaving at 8.45 a.m. for Lyttelton and the Tamahine at 9.30 a.m. for Picton. The Wahine left Lyttelton for Wellington at 9 o'clock this morning. The Lyttelton steamers will make daylight sailings in both directions tomorrow and on Monday and Tuesday, leaving Wellington at 8.30 tomorrow morning and at 8.15 on Monday and Tuesday. Tickets for tomorrow's and Monday's trips can be purchased at the wharf ticket office, which is open from 7 a.m. Further sailings will be announced later. The Tamahine should be back here shortly after 4 p.m. As from Monday, she will resume her normal time-table. No arrangements have been announced in the Nelson passenger service, but the Kaitoa is sailing with cargo and mail on Monday night.
There are now no restrictions on cargo vessels leaving Wellington ' and the Kiwitea and Poolta sailed for Westport early this morning. Small craft of under 1500 tons have been permitted to sail since midday on Thursday.
