It is reUiably reported that President Cardenas has approved the quadrupling of the armed forces, including th c purchase of six United States destroyers. It is also stated that the JtJnited States in to make available lor this purpose credits ex- i ceeding Ki.000.000 dollars. i ! The Amjerican Assistant Secretary of State, Mr/. Sumner Welles, said in j Washington that the United States would giT|e friendly consideration to a request jEi-om Mexico for credits and other as feistance for her defence.
