NO MASS MIGRATION
REFUGE PLAN FOR BRITISH CHILDREN
(Brltlsn Official Wlreless;r (Received June 21, 1 p.m.) RUGBY, June 20. No, scheme has yet been, finally fixed for the evacuation of British children to the Dominions or other overseas countries, and it is unlikely that the first movement of children, could be started before two or three weeks have passed. The Under-Secretary for the Dominions, Mr. G. H. Shakespeare, states that any idea of a mass migration is absolutely contrary to the wishes; of any of the Governments concerned. A safe refuge- is intended for a limited num- | ber of children on a well-ordered plan I and the major policy of the Government is still to send children from the evacuation areas to reception areas in Britain itself.
