BRITISH CHILDREN
CARE DURING WAR
OFFERS FROM DOMINIONS
URGENT. TREATMENT BY COMMITTEE
(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright.) (Received June 13, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON. June 12. The Dominions Under-Secvetary, Mr. Shakespeare, said, in the House of Commons: "An interdepartmental committee has been appointed, under the chairmanship of myself, to consider offers from the Dominions for the care of British children for the period of the1 war. The committee has already held a number of meetings and the work is, continuing in close touch with the Dominions. "I wish to express the thanks of the Government for this further demonstration of co-operation of the British Commonwealth in our war effort. The Government is confident that it should be possible to provide a practical scheme. The committee is giving* urgent consideration to the whole question. It has received a number of inquiries from British parents, but a scheme of this nature raises many intricate problems on which agreement with the Dominions is necessary. The committee will consult any organisation with knowledge of emigration and evacuation."
