SUEZ CANAL BLOCKED

ITALY CUT OFF FROM EAST AFRICAN EMPIRE

(Received June 13, 1.15 pjn.)' v LONDON, June 12. '

The Alexandria correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain states that strong concentrations of Allied warships blocked the Suez Canal, cutting off Italy from her East African empire. Grand-Admiral Raeder, Commander-in-Chief of the German navy, is reported to have assumed an active part in the direction of Italian naval operations. Eight Italian submarines are believed to be operating in the Red Sea. There are a few small Italian ships east of Suez. The majority of the naval forces are concentrated in the Mediterranean.
