RESPONSE IN THE NORTH

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, June 10.

Large numbers of recruits continue to come forward in the Northern Military District for the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Last week's total was 544, a reduction on the previous week's figure of 719, but still much higher than any during the months after the initial call and preceding recent events in Europe. The present rate .of recruiting is shown by the fact that in three weeks more than' 1600 men have volunteered, a total that previously was taking about two months to find.
