STRONG OPINION
"ALLIES'BATTLE IS OURS"
NEW YORK, June 10,
Forty prominent persons issued a statement in which they said that the United States should immediately declare war on Germany. .
Mr. Henry L. Stimson, who was Secretary of State during the last war, in a letter jto the New York "HeraldTribune," urging immediate aid for the. Allies and universal military training, said: "Too long have we obstinately refused to see that the Allies' battle is our battle. We should send not only food, clothing, and medical supplies, but also arms and ammunition in unlimited quantities."
The; chairman of the Committee to Defend Americans by Aiding the Allies. Mr. William Allen White, proposed that the United States should publicly announce her intention to aid England and France with the immediate sale of all. possible planes to the Allies, further legislation enabling the sending of all kinds of naval and military supplies, an outright gift of 100,000,000 dollars for the care of Belgian and French refugees, and repeal of the law prohibiting Americans from volunteering for the Allies.
