ALIENS IN AUSTRALIA

ITALIANS STILL ARRIVING

SYDNEY, June 6.

Many of the aliens in New South Wales who were arrested early this morning for internment were in bed when the police arrived, but they were allowed time to dress andto take some personal effects with them. A fair percentage were Germans who were interned after the declaration of war and subsequently released. There were many distressing scenes, but all were treated with the utmost courtesy. : . Italian migrants are still arriving in Australia in hundreds, mostly in neutral ships. The migration authorities are unable to stop the influx but are keeping a close watch on them. About 14,000 of the 27,000 Italians in Australia are naturalised.
