DANGER SPOT
INTRUDER FIRED ON
ORDER TO SENTRIES
(.By Telegraph—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, May 25
An intruder who entered the fencedoff area surrounding the oil tanks on the harbour front, guarded by soldiers as a vital point, was fired on by a sentry when he ran after being challenged.
The man was found inside the barbed wire fence early on Saturday morning and refused to stop when challenged, but the sentry's shot missed and the intruder got away. .A serious attempt was .made recently to" enter the magazine in this vicinity, and it is undertsood that the men on guard have now been told to shoot first and challenge after if there is any chance of the prowler dpdging out of sight.
