The Air Ministry announced: "An air raid warning sounded in East Kent tonight. Pursuit planes went up." s
Violent anti-aircraft gunfire was heard "twice from the south-east coast. An enemy plane was seen. Tonight the firing was so intense that .everything movable shook.
