(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)
(Received May 15, 1 p.m.) LONDON, May 14.
The War Ministry stated that the Allies successfully landed troops seven miles north of Narvik behind the German positions, which other Allied units simultaneously attacked.
British submarines this month sank at least nine more German transports and supply ships south of Norway, and also chased ashore a supply ship which H.M.S. Trident shelled.
A War Office communique states: — "Allied forces made a successful landing at Bjerkvik, seven miles north of Narvik, suffering only a few minor casualties.
"Bjerkyik is in the rear of the German positions in the Gratangen area, where our forces made successful attack at the same time. An enemy detachment which had landed at Hemnes was bombarded by a British warship. Casualties were inflicted upon the enemy." •
