The meeting of the ladies' auxiliary [of the Boys' Institute held yesterday : afternoon was presided over by the president, Mrs. L. T. Watkins, and was [largely attended. The matron, reporting on the work of the home for the past month, stated that the one vacancy was now filled. The health of the boys had been excellent with the1 exception of a lad who had sustained injuries- to his foot while playing football. The gymnasium class for resident boys, which was held every Wednesday evening, was well attended and football was also proving popular. A donation of magazines from Mrs. W. I. McCallum, a gift of vegetables and jam from Mr. A. R. Whitmarsh, and a parcel of oddments from Miss Gilchrist were acknowledged with i thanks. Afternoon tea was served in the resident boys' sitting-room.
