Speaking at a Waihi reception to the Minister of Housing, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Mr. J. G. Bincham, president of the Miners' Union, referring to the future of the Martha mine, said the mine was not worked out. No one could tell that, although there might be a shortening of hands. Under the system of mass production, as adopted in South Africa, the whole of Martha Hill, in his opinion, would prove a payable proposition.
