DELEGATE APPOINTED

At the recent meeting of the Wainui-o-mata Women's Institute it was reported that two parcels had been sent to the Wellington Patriotic Council. Mrs. Heathcote, the president, asked members to stand in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mrs. A. Burdan, an old and respected resident of the Valley. The remits for the Dominion conference were read and discussed, Mrs. Heathcote being appointed delegate. The making of beaded bags was demonstrated by Mrs. Spackman. Mrs. L. Wood won the competitions for the best knitted "peggy" square and the best bloom. Afternoon tea was served by -the hostesses.
