EVANGELICAL STUDENTS

The fifth annual conference of evangelical students opened at Te Aro School, Wellington, on Saturday. The chairman was Dr. J. M. Laird* ex-pre-sident of the Evangelical Students' Fellowship at Glasgow University. Students representing Evangelical Unions in the university colleges, teachers' training colleges, and agricultural colleges attended. The conference will continue for some days, when matters qf general policy will be discussed, and addresses given by leaders of the movement. Last evening delegates attended St. John's Presbyterian Church and assisted with the service. The sermon was by Dr. J. Gibson Inkster, a vicepresident of the Canadian Inter-Varsity Fellowship of Evangelical Unions.

The president, Dr. W. H. Pettit, Auckland, will give his address tonight. On Tuesday Mr. H. R. Minn, of the classics department, Otago University, will speak; on Wednesday Mr. Howard Knight, at present in New Zealand on furlough from China, will give a missionary address. The final evening address of the conference will be given by Dr. Laird. Each morning the Rev. W. A. Orange, Vicar of All Saints', Sumner, will conduct Bible Study. Discussion groups will be informally conducted by students every evening.
