DUCK SHOOTER'S DEATH

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

INVERCARGILL, This Day.

The body of Mr. Gordon Glennie, a well-known resident and a prominent sportsman, was found yesterday in New River Estuary near Duck Creek. Mr. Glennie was out duck shooting and he was found lying face down with his gun unloaded on his back. He apparently slipped and fell when making his way through rushes. An inquest was opened, and after evidence of identification it was adjourned sine die.

Mr. Glennie was 63 years of age and leaves a widow and an adult family of three sons and four daughters. He was a well-known footballer in his younger days, being a stalwart of the Linwood Club, Christchurch, and afterwards of the Pirates Club, Invercargill. He represented Southland 40 years ago. Later, he became a keen bowler and enjoyed much success in the game.
