i The secretary of the. Wellington Navy League has received advice that the Marton branch of the Navy League has. arranged to send comforts to1 the New .Zealand Division of the Royal Navy every quarter during the war. '•; Already supplies of balaclavas, scarves, and mittens have been presented to members of the R.N.V.R. from Wellington, Masterton, and Picton branches going overseas. Parcels of books have been received at the Wellington office from the Hastings Women's Community Club, the Kahutara Women's Institutes, and from Mrs. E. Riddiford and Mrs. Hay ward, for H.M.S. Achilles and other 'ships of the Royal Navy. ■Members of the Navy League and other citizens are sending into the office scarves, balaclavas, and mittens, and these are very much appreciated.
The Wellington Navy League now makes an urgent appeal for 400 balaclavas, 400 and 400 pairs of mittens for men from New Zealand who are going overseas to serve with the Royal Navy. These articles are preferred in navy blue wool, but any dark colour will be acceptable.
• The secretary will be grateful if these articles are sent to the Navy League office as soon as possible, and suggests that the name and address of the donor should be stitched on the article.
The Rev. G. T. Robson, chaplain R.N. H.M.S. Philomel, gratefully acknowledges the receipt, through the National Patriotic Fund Board, of £57 9s 6d from the branches of the Navy League in New Zealand as a thanksoffering in honour of the naval victory off the River Plate.
