CHILDREN'S DISPLAY

ST. MARK'S CHURCH SCHOOL

About 220 children took part in the celebrations at St. Mark's Church School yesterday when parents and friends gathered at the invitation of the head teacher; Miss Holm, to see a display of work and a programme of songs, verse-speaking, and readings. The display included a show of handcrafts incorporating sewing and. cooking, and demonstrated a creditably high standard of work.

Painting and drawing, writing, printing, and mapping were displayed in the school hall, where an exhibition of raffia and canework and so on by the infant pupils were also much admired. In the afternoon and evening concerts were given in which almost the entire! school participated, and refreshments were served afterwards by ru committee of parents. I CLASS WORK DEMONSTRATED. Class singing by the kindergarten opened the programme, which included songs and recitations by the primer classes and Standard I, verse-speaking by Standard 2, with the next class, also sang a Hebridean lullaby. Standard 4, 5, and 6 sang and gave fluent versespeaking items, the Standard 6 work being particularly pleasing.. Individual items were given by Beyerley Burnard, Irene Garratt, T. George, and June McKeori, who recited, Hilary Callehder, Alan Emery, and George Gay, who gave class readings. The school song cpncluded the programme, which was supervised by the Misses Holm and ; members of the staff.
