MOTOR HORNS

ACTION PROPOSED

PROHIBITION AT NIGHT

The New Zealand Road Safety Council has several times discussed the prohibition of the use of motor horns as a; means of promoting greater road safety, but has not until today been able to agree upon a definite recommendation. The decision reached by the.council today was that the use of horns, except- in emergency, should be prohibited between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., and that an addition should be made to the Road Code requesting motorists to avoid the use of the horn during the daylight hours. There was, however, a good deal of difference of opinion as to what might constitute "emergency."
