A trough of low pressure has remained sta-: tionary over the New Zealand area, while ' a deep cyclonic centre developed last night to the west of Auckland.. Freshening north to north-west winds have prevailed in the north. Elsewhere winds were light to moderate and variable at first, but a change to fresh souiherlies gradually advanced from the south And this morning has reached Hawke's Bay and Taranaki. The weather has been dull and unsettled with intermittent drizzle and rain in most districts. . Conditions have improved this morning, however, on the west coast of the South Island.
