. Sir Harry Batterbee,. High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand,' and his niece, Miss Isobel Biggar,. who have been visiting Queenstown, were the guests of Sir Percy and Lady Sargood, Dunedin. They left yesterday for Timaru and will attend the Centennial celebrations at Akaroa on Saturday. On Monday, they were the guests of honour at a 5 o'clock reception given in Dunedin by Miss Downie Stewart. Lady , Rutherford, wife of the late Lord Rutherford, who has been visiting relatives in Christchurch, Te Aroha, and Hamilton, has left on her return to her home in Cambridge, England. Sir Lindo and Lady Ferguson, Dunedin. are staying at the Midland Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Came Bidwell are Wairarapa visitors to Wellington and are staying at the Midland Hotel. Miss Ruth Herrick, Napier, Chief Commissioner of Girl Guides in New Zealand, has arrived at - Wellington from a tour of the South Island, and is staying at the Hotel Waterloo. Miss Paddy Gibbons, Lyall Bay, returned to Wellington by steamer express from the south this morning. Miss Elsie Williams, Frimley, Hastings, is visiting Wellington and staying at the Hotel Waterloo. Mrs. E. O. F. yon Dadelszen, Mangateretere, Hawke's Bay, is spending a holiday in the Wairarapa, and is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Kebble. Mrs. John E. Hunt, Wellington, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. John Paterson, Mission Bay, Auckland, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. O'Reilly, Porangahau, are spending a fortnight in Wellington, and are visiting the Exhibition. Mr. and Mrs. Lan Speedey, - Flag Creek, who have been staying at Paraparaumu Beach, have returned to Tinui. - The Rev. A. R. H. Morris and Mrs. Morris, Tokomaru Bay, who visited Hawke's Bay for the church congress of the Waiapu diocese, and have since been on holiday at Taupo and Wellington, are expected home this week. Mrs. A. Jackson has returned to Wellington after a visit to Christchurch as the guest of her sister, Mrs. G. H. Morrow, Tennyson .Street. Mr. and Mrs. Morrow are now staying with Mr. and Mrs. J. Brougham, Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Bethell, Canterbury, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Barton, Waimata Valley, Gisborne,1 have left for the coast to be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hedley Reeves, Tolaga Bay. Miss Joan Curry, M.A., Palmerston North has joined the staff of the Y.W.C.A., Wellington, as assistant activities secretary. Miss Curry is a member of the Student Christian Movement, and is interested in leisuretime education for youth. She was a teacher at the Gisborne High School last year. Miss Pam Masefield and Mr. Dick Masefield, Children's Bay, Akaroa, are visiting Wellington. Later they will be the guests of their aunt, Mrs. W. H. Gaisford, Dannevirke. Mrs. D. Smart and Mrs. E. Bateup, Napier, are the guests of Mrs. E. D. Good, Northland. Mrs. Florence Kissen, Auckland, who is visiting Wellington and staying at the Hotel St. George, will leave on her return to Auckland on Saturday. Miss Betty Cramp, Herne Bay, Auckland, who has been visiting Wellington for the past two months, has returned to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thomson and their son, who have been the guests of Mrs. E. D. Good, Northland, have returned to' New Plymouth. Miss Isabella Brash, who has resigned her post as senior activities secretary of the Y.W.C.A. in Christchurch, will leave next month for Wellington to spend some time with relatives before her departure for Scotland, where her marriage will take place. Mrs. E. D. Recce, Ngaio, Wellington, has returned north after a visit to her mother, Mrs. W. F. Browne, Cashmere Hills, accompanied by her sister, Miss Joan Browne.
