A popular feature of the Wanganui Meeting at Claudelands on Saturday is the Kemp Handicap, a mile saddle event. These contests are usually won by brilliant beginning ability from the front of the handicap, and one who appeals is Hottentot, who should be equal to stepping a very merry mile. He is trained by C. Moran, whose horses are usually piloted by the galloping horseman N. R. McKenzie when they contest saddle races.
