SKETCH CLUB
The annual meeting of the Wellington- Sketch Club was held recently. The keen interest that members took in club affairs was apparent by the number of members present, The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Professor JShelley; vice-president. Mr. Carl T. Laugesen; secretary, Mr. Stanley H. Edwards; treasurer, Mr. C. M. Patcrson; committee, Mr. J. Magurk. Mr, W. Milne, Mi*. P. C. Wrigley; Mr. W. Basil Honour was elected an honorary vicepresident in recognition of the assistance he had rendered to the club.
The balance-sheet, which was presented by Mr. C." M. Patsrson, showed a very satisfactory year from a financial viewpoint. The secretary, in ths course of his annual report, referred to the fact that the club was, now firmly established and the past year had scon a substantial increase in membership. The quarterly syllabus was still of a high standdard and' the help given to. amateur artists, which was the main aim of the club, has been maintained over the past year. The assistance the club had received from artists and lecturers was much appreciated and reference was made to the Sketch Club exhibit at the Exhibition and. it was thought this, the flvst exhibition of the club, had been a great success. Before the business of the evening was concluded Mr. Laugesen, on behalf of the members, pro.sen.ted My. Edwards, the secretary, with a ftne Nugent Welch water-colour In recognition of the work Mr. Edwards had done in the interests of the-club.'
