SHOULD GAIN BY WAR (Received March 29, 2 p.m.) LONDON, March 28. Mr. J? F. G. Gillat, chairman of the Bank of Australasia, at the annual meeting said it was reasonable to expect that as a result of the war, Australia and New Zealand would , strengthen their economic position. , They both had the means of increasing their sterling balances by^the sale^ of foodstuffs and1 war materials, Although the large sum? t^a* weije being expended on the war effort would offset this to some extent.
