WORK
MEN OF THE SECOND N.Z.E.F.
Reference to what'it means to the | men of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force to have the practical support and i sympathy of the people they- have left behind is made by Major-General B. C. Freyberg, V.C., General Officer Commanding the N.Z.E.F., in a letter the National Patriotic Fund Board received from him yesterday afternoon. The letter was dated; febrifajcy 19 and was ad-J dressed to the chairman of the board. "I thought you would be pleased to hear," wrote Major-General Freyberg, "that the band instruments presented by-your society to two of the infantry battalions have proved a great success, and two very good bands have already been formed. . ~ . I can assure you that they are a great asset. "Distributions of gifts from your society during the voyage were.fully appreciated by the men. It is encouraging for us to know that we have the support and understanding sympathy of bodies such as yours who are working for us while we are away." .;■.-■-"'-
