BURNSIDE RAM FAIR
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 28. Both stud and flock rams met with an indifferent demand at the annual ram fair of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society at Burnside sale-, yards today. Entries showed a slight increase on those of last year, but even with the greater supply the inquiry existing would hardly have been sufficient to improve values materially. Buyers were not keenly enough interested, even in the better-class sorts' that were offering, and in the flock section, where, quality was particularly mixed, ranging from fair down to. very mediocre descriptions, sales were very hard to make. ■ _ . Southdowns and Border Leicesters, particularly the latter, were in oversupply, but in each" case passings were the result of poor quality as much as lack of demand. Ragged sorts were to be found in all breeds and passings were frequent in respect of such stock in fact, the percentage of unattractive sheep was great enough to warrant the suggestion that a stricter system of inspection and selection might de adopted at future fairs.
