NUCLEUS REQUIRED
REGIMENTAL FUNDS
Acting on a suggestion by the National Patriotic Council, the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council decided today-to contribute £100 towards the nucleus of a fund to provide regimental funds for the Second Echelon. Each of the eleven patriotic councils is being asked to make a similar contribution and to remit it to the National Council. The total amount received in this way will then be divided proportionately amongst each unit.
The National Council is also suggesting that as soon as the units of the Third Echelon go into camp the provincial council in whose district the camps are constituted ascertain the units and provide them with regimental funds, and charge this proportionately among the other provincial councils in their command.
It was pointed out that although the profits from the canteen will be paid into regimental funds, these profits of necessity do not accrue until the units have been in camp for some time. The need for regimental funds became urgent the moment a unit was in camp.
