BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY

An enjoyable time was spent by the men of the merchant marine over the Easter period. Arrangements were made by the British Sailors' Society. On Saturday three buses left the King's Wharf for a picnic at Maidstone Park, where the time was spent in games, sports, etc., and in the evening a social was held, over 100 attending. On Sunday a large number attended tea in the society's rooms, after which a Gospel was held, the preacher being Mr. J. King, and a song service. Supper was again served by the members. On Monday the boat race for the. Mercantile Cup was held, and in the evening there was another social. Items were contributed by Mr. C. Enright and by three seamen.
