WAIRARAPA V. LEAGUE
The cricket match between teams r»> presenting Wairarapa and the Wellington Mercantile Cricket League, played at Kelburn Park, was won by the local side by five wickets. In Wellington's 'first innings Potier was unfortunate in not reaching his century, as he needed only four runs when the innings terminated; N. Hoar and Upston bowled successfully for the visitors and good batting performances were given by Coleman, Peterson, • and F. Hoar (father of N. Hoar). Bryant was Wellington's most successful bowler, and Clothier and Sara did best with the bat in the second innings. Scores: Wairarapa, 150 and 199 (Clark 17, Colemaa 50, Peterson 41, Taylor 14, F. Hoar 31; Bryant four for 46, Potier two for 65, Baker two for 13, Fitzmaurice two for 23); Mercantile League, 247 (Newman 25, Potier 96 not out, Fitzmaurice 45, Baker 22, Munro 15; N. Hoar five for 59, Upston three for 16) and 106 for five wickets (Clothier 33 not out, Potier 19, Sara 27; N. Hoar three for 15).
