MAY VISIT OTHER PORTS
(By Telegraph—l'ress ■ Association.)
DUNEDIN, March 13
The possibility of H.M.S. Achilles visiting the principal ports of New Zealand was referred to by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) in an, interview this evening.
It was naturally desired to have the ship ready for service again as soon as 'possible, the Minister, said, but it was hoped that before she resumed her station time wouid be found for-her to make a tour of the main ports.
"The cruiser will be refitting for some-time yet," Mr. Jones said, "but it is possible that when that essential work has been completed she will be able to visit other parts of New -Zealand. I am sure the people of Otago, as well as those of the other provinces of the Dominion, will weicome an opportunity to do honour o the officers and men who acquitted themselves so magnificently in the battle of the River Plate. lam confident also that recruiting would receive a substantial stimulus as a result."
